Empire State Building

The Empire State Building is one of the oldest and most famous observation decks. Everyone comes back from New York, saying they went up the Empire State Building. I read about Top of The Rock and wanted to go up there and just saw the Empire State Building as another view. I wasn't really fussy about the Empire State Building.

The first day I visited New York I happened to pass the Empire State Building and thought, am passing it I might as well go up to say I've been.

Main deck 86th floor
Top deck 102nd floor

Price : $34
& $54 to the 102nd floor

I first visited the Empire State Building in February 2013. When I was in New York in January I went up again to mark 4 years since I'd been up.

The Empire State Building view is out of this world. It's worth seeing the different views around New York, from different observations decks.

Flatiron Building

What is your favourite landmark in New York ? The Flatiron Building, is one of my favourite landmarks in New York. It's appeared in many movies. I saw it on the movie "New York Minute" and always wanted to see it in person.

The first time I went to New York I sat on the plane thinking out my plans for each day. I planned once I arrived to walk to the Flatiron and would be a good way, to get to know the area.

I headed down Broadway, following where it looked on google map on my phone. Though am terrible at maps, am better at going with the flow and taking guesses. At Madison Square Park, I saw the iconic Flatiron building and looks so breathtaking. I'd seen it in the "New York Minute" movie, so it didn't feel real seeing it in person.

The Flatiron building is one of my favourite landmarks, as it's unique and just looking at photos of the building you know it's New York.

Ice skating at the Rockefeller Center

I was one of those people who'd stand watching everyone ice skating at the Rockefeller Center, dreaming I was ice skating. The truth was I hadn't went on an ice rink, since I was a child. I thought what if I land myself in hospital, in New York. I'd have no one to visit me in hospital, as all my family are in Scotland. I told my friend every time I go to New York I like setting aims of doing different things and ice skating is something I've wanted to do in New York, but I hadn't been on an iced ink. My friend said go to the Edinburgh ice rink in town and practice, so you have abit more confidence. I went with my niece to the ice rink in town, the day before I went to New York in January. I was surprised I didn't fall once, though I had a few wobbly moments.

While in New York in January, I headed to the ice rink at the Rockefeller Center. I headed down the steps, then went into the room where you pay and collect the ice skates.

It's a different experience skating in New York, by the Rockefeller Center. I loved skating and looking up seeing the Rockefeller Christmas tree. My only disappointment with the ice skating at the Rockefeller Center, is how old the skates look. They were laces and looked gross and soggy, being wet with the water.

It's an amazing experience, I recommend ice skating at the Rockefeller Center.

December 16 - January 1 : $32
January 2 - April  17 : $25

New York Bagel

Hello, morning everyone. Am just getting up for work and made myself a New York bagel. We happen to have bagels in the UK called "New York Bakery". I love the red onion and chive ones, with Philadelphia cheese.

P.S this isn't an advert. I bought them myself and just sharing what I love.

New York Feet

When I go to New York, I always think I must bring fancy casual shoes for going into the shops in New York. It's a huge regret, when I get there. I walk for miles and end up with cut feet. Scott someone I know from New York said wow look at the cuts on your feet, saying he felt bad us walking far. I replied it's called New York feet, as I always get cut feet when I walk everywhere in New York. I told Scott I only bring fancy casual shoes, so I look good going into shops and Scott said they don't care what you wear. I'd worry about not getting into the luxury shops, not being dressed to standard.

My advice to myself and everyone is when packing for New York, bring a pair of trainers unless you want New York feet haha. I try travel light, as I want room for shopping. Maybe next time I'll learn to bring trainers.

Getting to Woodbury Common

Hi everyone I talked about Woodbury Common Outlet, so I want to go into more detail about getting there. When you are in Times Square, you will without a doubt here the tour bus people stand shouting "Woodbury Common". They sell tour bus tickets and tickets to Woodbury Common. Am sure you'll be able to buy bus tickets online and other places, but I choose to go to one of the Gray Line sellers and paid $35 for a return ticket.

I then headed to the Port Authority bus terminal on 40th street on 8th Avenue. Am not going to lie, the Port Authority bus terminal is like a maze. I walked in and there was so many arrows pointing different ways and escalators. I thought wow where am I going ? Lucky I mentioned to my mums cousin I wanted to go to Woodbury Common, but I was nervous about going. She messaged a list of instructions, before I left for New York. I got my mobile out and checked the message again. Her instructions were "4th floor and gate 412" There was maybe the gate number on the bus ticket, but I didn't want to stand out the tourist standing reading a bus ticket.

I got up to the 4th floor, passing so many bus terminals and the numbers were getting nearer to gate 412. Bus staff shouted "Woodbury Common". It was such a relief to finally find the bus.

The bus that drives to Woodbury Common, is Coach USA. It took about an hour on the freeway and drove right to the front door, of Woodbury Common.

There's a bus every hour and picks you back up at the front, when you head back. I panic getting to places. I start thinking what if I get there and can't find where to get the bus back, but honestly I loved it. The bus journey went in so fast,as I was too busy looking at the different scenery.

Shopping at Woodbury Common

Woodbury Commons is an outlet in Central Valley, New York. All my friends who went to New York all talked of Woodbury Commons and how cheap things were. I put of going to Woodbury Commons for so long, as I feel sick traveling by bus and I panic getting from A to B with transport.

I love doing new things, when I go to New York and Woodbury Common was on my to do list. When I went to New York in January, I took that bus to Woodbury Common. It was the fastest hour on the bus, seeing different scenery out of New York City. The freeway was all straight road, so I didn't feel sick.

When I arrived at Woodbury Common, I went into the information Center and gave the coupon I got with the bus ticket. I was given what they call a passport book.

Woodbury Common is set like a village. Every building exterior has the same design and looks so pretty walking up and down all the sections. I loved the feeling, as if you're walking the streets of a village. As there's so many sections, I thought it was best to just follow the paths wherever it took me and go in the shops I fancied. Every section had a sign saying what shops are in that section, so you have an idea. Each section also has a colour and name. The green section is called Adirondacks. The red section is called Saratoga. The black section is called Hudson Valley. The blue section is called Nigara and the orange section is called Hamptons.

When it was lunch, I stopped at the food section called Market hall and got Chipotle and Pinkberry. At Chipotle I got the bowl with brown rice, tomatoes, onion, mushrooms, chicken, lettuce, sour cream and for a drink I got a coke. At Pinkberry I got vanilla frozen yogurt and chocolate chips.

Then I headed to see any shops I hadn't seen, before getting the bus back to Manhattan.

I arrived at Woodbury Common at around 10am and headed back to Manhattan around 4pm, so you really can spend all day there. My only advice is to go open minded, it is an outlet after all. I loved Woodbury Common, it was an amazing experience.

Wetherspoon | New York Deli Burger

Am sure you've all gathered by now, I love going to Wetherspoon. I visited the Wetherspoon in town called the Caley Picture House, with someone from my work.

I had the New York deli burger
beef patty, pastrami, mustard mayo and gherkin.
Served with chips and six onion rings

It was £7.65 with a soft drink or £8.65 with an alcoholic drink. I had an irn bru.

I loved the New York deli burger, but am not a fan of gherkins so I had to remove them.

Wetherspoon | Empire State Burger

If you've never heard of Wetherspoon, it's a pub in the UK. All Wetherspoon pubs are all named after something, like the Wetherspoon's local to me are Calley Picture House, named after a picture house. Alexander Graham Bell, named after the man who invented the telephone. The White Lady, named after the ghost of Corstorphine.

Wetherspoon has brought out a new food menu. I saw adverts online, meals named after New York. I got a little excited, as I love trying things named after New York. Incase you haven't noticed, this website am sharing with you everything New York.

The Wetherspoon I visited, was The White Lady in Edinburgh. I ordered the Empire State burger, which costs £8.15 with a soft drink or £9.15 with an alcoholic drink.

Empire State burger
Two beef patties, American cheese slices, maple-cured bacon. Served with chips and six onion rings

Irn Bru

Warm cookie dough sandwich, with ice cream

The Empire State burger is piled high like the Empire State Building, but there wasn't anything spectacular about the burger. My mum stole half my chips, so the burger was easy to manage. I have to say the chips were my favourite. They had a different taste, from the usual Wetherspoon chips I've had. Then for dessert I had the cookie dough, which is part of Wetherspoon new menu. Honestly the cookie dough tasted too good to be Wetherspoon.

I love how Wetherspoon staff come and ask if the food is ok, within a few minutes of you getting it. The guy said are you taking a photo to show how big the burger is. I don't think he realised am a blogger.

One World Observatory

I'd say visiting the World Trade Center is a once in a life time, but then there's me who's visited the World Trade Center twice. I first visited the World Trade Center in January last year. I was only visiting New York for 3 days, so you have to make use of the time you have. I went up and there was fog, you couldn't really see far in the distance but it was nice to say I'd been up. I went back to New York in September and I was near the World Trade Center on a sunny day, so I wanted to go back up.

Inside the World Trade Center there's a walk through of videos being played, how the World Trade Center was built. It leads on to the lift, which takes you to the 102nd floor. The lift to the top plays a video on all walls and the roof, it actually fells like you're flying through New York City. After exiting the lift you're led to a theatre section to watch a video of New York in 3D. Then the walls lift up and you see the amazing view over New York City, or like their slogan "See forever".

The World Trade Center is one of my favourite things to see in New York. It's modern, fresh looking and entertains you every step, even in the lift.? My only disappointment is the shop is at the top, so you need to go up the top to buy anything. I guess that's the whole point in a souvenir shop haha. I told my mum the shop had One World Observatory lanyard and she didn't tell me till later, that she wanted one for her work. I did manage to buy the lanyards when I went back in September though.

It costed $29.39 to go up in January 2016 and $37 when I went up in September, so it may be dearer now.

It's walkable distance getting to the World Trade Center from Times Square, if you want to take in the New York scenery. It took me about an hour and 20 mins, walking from Times Square.

Where : 285 Fulton Street, New York
